2026 Questionnaire Results and Our Reponse

Thank you to everyone who participated in our 2026 community survey! The results painted a vivid picture of our community: a devoted core of dancers—many of whom have been with us for years—dancing alongside a growing wave of enthusiastic newcomers. Your feedback directly shaped our 2026 schedule, especially around venue choices and event timing.

Here is how we’re putting your feedback into action—starting with a clear, consistent monthly rhythm and a rotation of venues that better matches what you asked for.

The 2026 lineup (your feedback → our plan)

• 1st Sunday: Fulton Park Community Center (10:30 am – 2:30 pm)
The survey response was clear: there’s strong enthusiasm for Fulton Park and for having a reliable
Westside option with a great floor. We’re excited to make Fulton Park our regular home for the first Sunday of each month.

• 2nd Saturday: Waverly Heights Church (7:00 or 7:30 pm)
Feedback about our previous Blues venue was polarized, and many of you asked for a change. To make our Blues Eclectic nights feel welcoming and comfortable for the widest range of dancers, we’re moving this series to Waverly Heights.
(Start time will depend on whether a lesson is scheduled.)

• 3rd Sunday: Norse Hall (10:30 am – 2:30 pm)
Norse Hall remains a favorite for its spacious floor and central location, so we’re keeping it as our anchor date each month.

• 4th Sunday: Dancing with Joy (4:00 pm – 7:00 pm)
We asked about a “Tea Dance” time slot, and your feedback leaned toward a late-afternoon option. We’ll be gathering at Dancing with Joy in Sellwood for this new series—an easy time to dance, then grab dinner nearby.

Looking ahead: music & dancer support

Musically, you asked for more
smooth, flowing songs (especially for waltzing) and more playful, upbeat tracks to keep the energy bright. You also shared that some eclectic intros or rhythms can feel hard to interpret—especially when the beat takes a while to reveal itself.

In response, we’re developing:
Musicality-focused mini-lessons (occasional, optional, and practical)
Simple website resources to help you find the pulse sooner, feel confident with “in-between” rhythms, and enjoy the music even when it’s unfamiliar
